Mixing different RAM types in a server
A user asked if it is okay to mix RAM of different speeds or sizes in a server. This does not matter for modern Mac Minis because their memory cannot be changed.
People sometimes try to mix different RAM sticks to save money when building a server. Usually, the computer will slow all the memory down to match the slowest stick, but doing this can make the system crash unexpectedly. For anyone using a newer Mac Mini as a server, this is not a concern. The memory is built right into the main chip, so you cannot add more or change it later. This topic only matters if you are running a much older Mac Mini.
