OpenAI lays out a plan for personal AGI for everyone

OpenAI’s plan centers on making AI available to people as much as they need it, not only to a few large companies or governments. The company sees AI helping with practical tasks such as understanding a medical bill, learning a skill, starting a small business, making legal or financial choices, turning an idea into a real project, and supporting scientific discovery. OpenAI also says powerful AI must stay safe, follow human intent, and remain under human control.

It does not want a future where AI fully automates everything and people lose the role of setting goals, making tradeoffs, using judgment, and taking responsibility. Its three current goals are to build an , speed up science and economic growth, and give every person a personal AGI. Internally, OpenAI believes that by March 2028, a significant share of its research may be done by working together with human researchers.

It also expects international coordination and shared safety standards to matter more as gets stronger, including the ability to slow development when safety and society need time to catch up.
